Members of the James Sheahan Catholic High School community are marked by their generosity of spirit and their strong understanding of the importance of social justice in our world. As such, our student leadership teams drive many social justice initiatives across the course of a year.
Students will support Catholic charities and agencies such as Project Compassion and the Catholic Mission. However, our students give of their time to support ministry in local primary schools, raise funds for community appeals and volunteer for local, regional and national charities. The school works with the De La Salle District of ANZPPG to help fund community projects at schools in Pakistan and across the Oceanic region. Our students support Mercy Works through practical projects both in Australia and in nearby countries.
Social Justice is more than just fundraising at James Sheahan Catholic High School. Students, staff and families regularly support out-of-hours events like the “Do It For Cancer” Walk for breast cancer research, and the very popular Mensline Netball Tournament, begun to support men’s mental health. Our students develop a strong understanding of justice and compassion during their time here and our social justice events support action to improve the lives of those who may be dealt unjust blows in their lives.
